Common questions

Do you ship?

No. Pickup only. Bees travel best when you carry them home, and we like meeting our customers.

Are your bees treatment-free?

No. We treat for varroa with oxalic acid only — no synthetic miticides, no formic, no thymol. We use the term "no synthetic miticides" because "treatment-free" properly belongs to keepers running zero treatments of any kind.

Are your queens marked?

Not by default. We'll mark a queen for $10 — just ask when you reserve. A marked queen is a lot easier to spot during your first few inspections.

When do nucs become available?

We sell overwintered nucs in the spring — meaning colonies that survived the previous winter. Pickup windows typically run from mid-spring onward, dates announced once we know what we have to sell.

What if I'm a brand-new keeper?

Read the nuc owner's guide, get your equipment set up, and reach out with questions. We'd rather answer questions in March than visit a deadout in November.
